Mr. Gamage ran the "People's Emporium" in London in 1878 and over time it
became one of London's great department stores. Mr. Gamage placed much
emphasis on on the mail order aspect of his business which necessitated the
production ofillustrated catalogs. Of special interest were not only British
toys - but also toys imported from America and Europe. This book pictures over
150 catalog pages from his 1902 and 1906 sales order catalogs. Pictured,
described and valued (original asking prices in British pounds) are dolls, toy
trains, toys soldiers, steam engines, clockwork toys, hobby horses, stuffed
animals and more.
